congrats, L lenses are amazing. I thought there wouldn't be much of a difference, but after getting my 70-200, there is a difference, and it's huge. now I make up excuses to use my 70-200 instead of my 17-85, and I plan on getting a 17-55 (near L quality) as soon as possible.

L is a disease! :D

I needed these lenses for my Photography program. I needed the wide angle for first semester and the the standard lens for second. I will get the 70-200 don't you worry. It just won't be right now. I have to use them between a full frame and a crop camera. So having them both really helps. I can't wait.

hmm, good reasoning. I want to get the 17-40L because i think I will be using it a lot this upcoming semester. good enough reason to buy right? :-) gotta get that A

Thank guys! Yeah that is an awesome reason to get the lenses. The best part about it is that my fiance doesn't argue about it if I tell her it is required for class. It pretty much is though. You can't make a good portfolio with substandard IQ. I can't wait for the semester to start. Each semester we have to build a portfolio. I think thats awesome because it makes us keep an up-to-date portfolio of our most recent work.

I can't wait to see how these lenses perform on my A2-E. I bet the film will look awesome.

I I don't know if I would get the 70-200 or the 100-400. Its a tough one. I don't know if I will like the dust pumper though.

This is probably the coolest disease you could ever have.

Get both most of us have over lap

Man, what an addiction it is! I just got the 70-200 F4 L and the 17-40 L and I absolutely LOVE both. The 17-40 is SO SO SO sick and the 70-200 is the perfect tele for me because I'm outdoors shooting action most of the time... I wanna add a 85mm L, but I'll have to save after my two most recent purchases! Being 21 years old, I didn't see the logic in buying a $500 and $600 dollar lens, but they are the most satisfying purchases I have probabley ever made! LOVING THE RED RING, and I know you will too.

No need to rush on the tele if you've got 2 new lenses to play with. Have fun with them. I love my L zooms. I wish I had more. :(

+1 on the 24-70. That's the best lens I own.

Hell yeah. The 24-70 is a great lens - it's on my camera most of the time

segasaturn - I see the same thing in my near future.

hortonsI62 - I hadn't really thought about that. Where can I get ones that will still give me control of the aperture and AF?
