Nice set up , I have to ask this, I see the camera lens is few " from the telescope eye piece, Can a tripod accomplish the same purpose?

Thanks. Sorry I'm a little confused by your question. My setup for the photo above was a Canon 2X tele converter attached to my Canon 600mm f/4 L II USM lens, giving a focal length of 1200mm. And yes, I did use a tripod when talking the photo.

My bad if it was confusing, the picture shows a canon attached to bracket with a 50 or 85 mm lens few inches from the telescope view piece, so in my mind there is no need for that bracket when you can use the " camera tripod" correct?

So this is a salvaged attempt of a time-lapse (my first). The time lapse was poor, but this turned out fine. This was during the eclipse over the summer.
