Selling on Amazon for under $415. And to think I paid over $500 dollars for the older model.

If you need it, sounds like a good find.

This might be the deal that I was holding out for. Now if I could just explain to my wife why I want a second flash. Yeah, the 430EX she got me is great, but I would love to be able to use it remotely.

Over $500? When was that? I got my 580EX a year and a half ago for $375.

I just order one from PCNation. $423 with free 3 day FedEX shipping. It actually came faster. I sent my order on Tuesday at 4pm, & just got it now Thursday Noon!!!! Can't wait to use it.

It all started as a hobby with a Rebel XT & KIT lens. $5K worth of equipment & $0 of income later, all I have to show for it is a harddrive full of pictures and priceless memories!! Yeah it's still worth it :)

I have a 580EX that a bought when it was first released and I had a chance to shoot with a 580EX II on a second body I rented. Canon made some excellent improvements in the EX II - its much easier to lock it on the camera -- its a simple lever and they now have a battery door you can open easily. It also has some weather protection. I was tempted to seel the original and buy the new version... Dennis

This is for the 580EX II. It lists for $499, so this is a good deal.

FYI, 17th Street Photo has it for $401 through Amazon.

I bought it for $430 on Amazon three weeks ago. Price went down by $15 a few days later and seems to have stayed there.

$416 at BuyDig.com with faster (FedEx) free shipping if you're close to NJ. Amazon has been him-hawing around on the SuperSaver orders lately, at least in my experience.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Not sure what 'him-hawing' means, but I got mine the next day at 12:10PM (with Amazon Prime overnight shipping for $1.99), even though I only order at 6:25PM. Couldn't be happier frankly, other than saving the $15 a few days later.

$412.69 now from Amazon direct. Still just over $400 from 17th Street Photo through Amazon.

I have the 430EX too, and waiting for the next round of rebates for the 580EX II for dual flash operations. It is not a MUST at this time, just a WANT.

I was responding to the comment that the person made about getting the original for 580EX not the mark II for $500

i'm in the same boat as you Linkzi. that last rebate canon ran was a total weaksauce! so i'm hoping they'll be running another soon (perhaps a double or a tripple rebate, I hope?). then i'll be getting the 580EXII & a 5D if it's on the list..

oh how i hope i hope i hope that will happen..

5D...nice. Will you keep your 17-55 IS? The best Canon WA lens out there! I had an old time pro drool over the sharpness when we tested it.
