Any clue as to what this will do to the price of the 30d body price? The cheapest trusted site had it for around $980.

If it continues like the 30D did to the 20D, $980 maybe rock bottom, until it totally gets phased out. They can't make it much cheaper as I would imagine since it may hurt the 400D's sales.

Regardless which body customer buys they will still be buying Canon and thats what Canon wants. Eventually these same customers will buy more lenses and may even move up to a 5D or a 1D body. All in all as long as it will take away protential customers from the competition its fine with Canon. Also there will only be limited quantity of the 30D availible at that price. For I'm sure Canon have seized production in anticipation of this rumor release before Xmas.

Stopped by our local Canon shop today, they are a very large Canon dealer. I asked them about the rumors....They all looked at each other and then told me that it is official the 40D IS real and will be instock in September. They have got the OFFICIAL anouncement from Canon!! I am already on the waiting list!! The said Canon has not relesed the official specs yet though.

I wish I could pull something like that off but i'd be fired so quick!

you can get fired right now for sharing information thats not set to be public yet, and whoever took the picture of RSS print out was smart to cover the bottom to cover their ass on telling people when thats coming out. i used to work for best buy, stuff like that is supposed to be internal only

Well, I didn't see any post stating that the 40D was going to be released Sept. 2. Nope, didn't see it at all. ;)

Went to the local Best Buy yesterday and had one of the kids there punch in the upc number and the 40D came up scheduled for 9/2/07 as said on here earlier. It is $1599.99 with the 28-135 IS lens included. It blew my mind as I didn't expect to see that on the screen but there it was. No other specs were available through them but seeing it on there was enough.

Well 28-135 it comes with is about $600 retail...They of course wouldn't now take that much off. I'll hazard a guess at 1199 or 1299 body only.

The 28-135 is just a hair over $400, but your $1299 body only seems about right.
