Why can't we see under the cap?

They didn't want to leak specifications which would show at that portion of the tag.

Hopefully $1199. If it is, I'm very inclined to pick one up around Christmas time if it's a good improvement over the 30D.

It won't be 1200, Canon is out to make a profit on good cameras not make bleak profit margins. That is what the Drebel line is for. :) It'll be $1600

The 30D was $1399. Prices seems to trend down on these, not up.

I'm saying $1199 for body only. $1600 for kit is fine with me.

You would think so, but the 1DIII debuted at a higher price than the 1DIIN did, so who knows. I sure hope the 40D debuts cheaper than the 30D did.

If the leak from Best Buy is accurate (a 40D with a 28-135 IS for $1599), it would put the body-only at about $1200 or less.

Have Fun,

and that would be Best Buy's price which is always higher.

I just don't believe it will be that cheap!

I would guess $1299 body only, that would follow the pricing trend and allow $300 up charge for the 28-135 IS.

Everybody's price will be the same MSRP at launch.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

$1300 or $1350 sounds reasonable at launch I guess. It still sounds too low though.

I guess I was hoping for a really "tricked" out 40D:lol::lol::lol:!

We'll see though, maybe next week!!!:D

With what Sony is planning, their's will probably kick butt in the market. I sure hope we're good competition for them. They are expecting to take over the #1 spot from us with the cameras they're planning. That's their plan anyway but I would imagine Canon has some marketing tricks up their sleeve too! I've heard that Canon will replace the 30D first, then the 5D, then the 1DS-MarkII in the next couple months. Sounds like a very busy fall leading up to Christmas to me! I sure hope so!!

You can't compare Sony to a Canon. I used to work for Sony as a marketing consultant for their digital camera division and their idea of a product is wrapping a shiny piece of toilet paper around compressed cheap parts with flawed interior designs. The Carl Zeiss optics is all they have going for them.

Sony is still better than Polaroid, HP, Epson (do they still make digital cameras?), etc.;)
