My son got a haircut the other night and he went through a range of emotions. Good thing I had my camera ready!

#1 the eye of the storm

There are a ton more, but thought I'd put these three up first to see if you like 'em. C&C invited, and thanks for looking!

Great series. He'll be handing THOSE down to his own children, I'm sure!

Excuse me - your best series yet?
#1 is too close up and distorts the face for no reason. Even though you "had your camera ready" it is b/w and is not in focus
#2 is nothing special except for the look on his face! And possibly change of clothes...
#3 is posed in front of a nice background -- after a definite change of clothes!!

Canon; 7D with grip, EF-S 10-22, EF 24-105L, 580EX II flash, 550EX flash, 430EX flash, Sigma; 18-50 f/2.8, 50-150 f/2.8, 120-300 f/2.8, 50-500 f/4.5-6.3 OS, 30 f/1.4, 150 Macro; Sigma APO 1.4x and 2x converters, Benro M-257 tripod & B-1 ballhead. Ah, you must be a fan of some of my other work! :)

#1 was heavily post-processed to be black and white and a bit on the blurry side. Do you like the color version any better?

#2 was desaturated, and I ran a USM on it but it didn't have quite the impact I was hoping for. Nonetheless, I think it captured the emotion and the context of the moment. OK, it might not qualify to be in many people's "best series yet" portfolio, but I'm not the best photog on the board either. ;)

#3 was taken at our kitchen table after we took off the fuzzy sweatshirt. My LCD monitor isn't so great but the colors look a little warm to me in spite of having used manual WB for incandescent. Suggestions on how to make these shots better would be much appreciated.

Thanks again for your comments!

Yeah! He loves a good ice cream cone at 9:00 p.m.. Problem is, now he expects the reward for pretty much everything. *shrug*

Thanks again Chemist, weka2000, MikePrattPhotography, MKuriger, Kathy, suecassidy, Kristy and khot for the compliments! They make me laugh too :)

I really love the first shot, and I think the B&W looks amazing. The stripes on his shoulders make him look like he is wearing a sailor uniform from the 1940's. Very cute expression on that one.

Thanks, David. I see what you mean about the striped shirt! Funny. That sweatshirt was designed to look like a hockey jersey and acted very much like velcro with all the hair trimmings. :-b
