If you were using a filter or any sort of adapter, I would inspect it for water marks or dust.

The images are too fussy to be on the sensor, and too sharp to be on the lens itself, but the filter just might be the cause.

It could also be just some airborne debris floating about the air... If it is, then the dots would be in different positions in different shots (if they existed at all any other shot...)

they are in the same spot in every image and in the same pattern. i don't own a filter. :/

If not on a filter, then perhaps the front element of the lens? If nothing there, shoot some tests against a solid colour (maximum depth of field) and see if they turn up again. If so, take a trip to the store...

my professor said there might be some dust on the CCD. i'll probably have to warranty it.

Well, irregardless of where the spot originate from (in the lens, or on the sensor), if you've cleaned the front element, and the spots remain, the camera goes in for a cleaning (or whatever it needs.)

Hope for a speedy return.
