canon ring flash home made diffuser

well i been told to sort some sort of diffuser for the macro twin ring lite..so i nee your help guys..i made some form this stuff..i bought a small diffuser tent and didn't end up using it so i thought this would be good.?so i cut some bits out and taped it to the flash like this..Now i took some pics today but i couldnt see any difference?

heres pic i set the flash to 1.2 ratio and put the dufusers on..i cant see any difrence..could it be that the plastic i used was to see through or what?
if i set up a test what would be best to shoot to see if this diffuser works..i know some of u use paper towels..please advise

Think John (Dalentech) is the expert at this. I always just use kitchen towel on my single flash setups but I think dual flash may have different characteristics. Having said that- these spiders are very good subjects for testing it with - if you don't overexpose the little hairs you are doing well :)
