I wonder if auto-focus problems will be standard or optional...

Neither, they'll be controlled by a custom function like mirror lock up and back focusing.

I'll believe it when I buy it, er I mean SEE it

In all honesty if you have a 5d and 30d why buy it? Only reason I would consider it , is for the better ISO....or else I'd probably hold out for the new rumor!! which is the 5DMkII.

AND a digic III sensor that will allow for less noise at higher ISO's...and a dust removal system

from what I've read the dust removal system isn't effective... maybe the newer version will actually do something.

DIGIC III isn't reason enough for most people to upgrade.

Digic III would be far more valuable to me than the extar 2MP. I was just answering your post to what the 40D is projected to have.

My intention for the original post was that I never considered a 2MP increase a real upgrade. I could care less for the 2 MP.

I don't know many 30D users that would make the switch for DIGIC III and 2mp!

Coffee tastes better, the opposite sex find you more attractive, bragging rights over all those backward freaks who only have DIGIC II.

Why does everyone assume that the upgrade is only for 30D users?? The xxD series is for amateurs and maybe a 2nd body for pros. I don't think these people are replacing their camera every 18months.

Personally I have a 300D (rebel) almost 4 years old and would love to upgrade to the 40D. I could get a 30D for cheap, but then you are getting the tech that is almost 2 years old. Given that I will likely have this new camera for at least another 3-5yrs, it makes sense to have the latest tech possible. So for those looking to upgrade from PS or the rebel series, we would love the changes made in a 40D. I don't really care if it is only a minor update from the 30D.

As I have said many times I would like a 40D with the projected specs in say May '08 once the price stablizes and BH falls below Best Buys price.

The only thing worse than forgetting your favorite lens, is not bringing the camera in the first place.
