This website has different specs: http://gizmodo.com …pricing-leaked-287279.php (external link)

I would buy the new camera as I too have the DRebel and would like a prosumer type camera. Was leaning to the 30D, but hopefully the 40D will be a reasonable step up from that. 5 fps does not sound like an improvement, unless the buffer is at least double the 30D. Guess we will have to wait and see.

In all honesty if you have a 5d and 30d why buy it? Only reason I would consider it , is for the better ISO....or else I'd probably hold out for the new rumor!! which is the 5DMkII.

so why buy the 5D Mk2 if you already own a 5D?

I went to Best Buy today and gave a salesperson the UPC number. She looked it up and then showed me on her computer screen that the 40D is supposed to be in Best Buy stores on September 2nd and the price is $1,600 for the body AND 28-135 IS lens. She had no price for the body only. At any rate, it looks like it will be available early next month :D

What I can't understand is why the 5D Mk2 and not the 40D? I would much rather have the 40D!

You could try http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/ (external link) I've used them a few times and they've been OK.

well the fiancee found out im thinking about a new camera. She was not happy, especially since im supposed to give her money for the wedding. I'll do that once i have the camera :)

I did play around with the 30d at bestbuy today. I really like some of the options it has, especially the WB selection in degree's in kelvin and not just generic like daylight/cloudy/tungsten like the xt has. I was able to shoot inside the store with a WB set at 4300k (typical hid lighting temp) and got a perfect color not the green hue i get with the xt. And it's so much quieter too. 30d was i think $1400 with 24-135 is lens, $220 for xt grip, $250+ for 30d grip, nearly $4000 for 5d. Is bestbuy normally this high on prices compared to b&h?

I don't know if the listing means anything, but it is sure getting a lot of press fro Best Buy. They should post listings for the 500D, 1D Mk IV, 5D Mk II and 1Ds Mk III as well. Their stores would be jammed full with Canonophiles trying to spend money.

;)

Yea Best Buy, Circuit City, Ritz, etc. are tipically not the places to buy expensive items as they will charge at the MSRP because they have more overhead costs. Where as BH, Adorama, and Newegg will be cheaper because they operate online or in one store.

To answer your question: yes Bestbuy is normally much higher than B&H!

they also have a store on ebay. make sure you wount get charged import duty, if so, not sure if its worth importing (check all prices). some ebay shops have guaranteed no VAT, such as Kea Photo (if my memory is correct). they are also pretty reliable.

EDIT::

oh and check www.camerapricebuster.com (external link) for UK prices. quite useful! now 30d is around £580 for body, wich isnt bad at all!

How about buying it from Kerso on here? He does great deals, and he is based in Scotland.
Check him up by doing a member search on this forum and you will see what othets have said about him.
He saved me something like £250 on my 70-200F4L IS a few months ago.
