You could try http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/ (external link) I've used them a few times and they've been OK.

Very high prices there.

as for bestbuy's prices. My god are they high. 2GB extreme III was $70ish, had them price match from circuit city for $49. They will not price match adorama or B&H, those were the first 2 stores they mentioned without me even saying what i wanted price matched.

I can also confirm that it will be released soon. My brother in law has been talking to the local Canon rep and he has said that there will be a release of something big on the 24th August. I trust him.

Try these, the prices here are the best I've found anywhere. They started as an ebay seller, but now have their own site which is very comprehensive.

I wonder if auto-focus problems will be standard or optional...

Now that WOULD be interesting, wouldn't it. :)

prices do look nice but when you add up the shipping and import duty etc it adds up as more expensive as highstreet shops...

Whisper it quietly, but Jessops are doing the 30D body only for £585, cheapest I've seen on the highstreet and £30 cheaper than one-stop!

They also have a store on eBay: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/DigitalRev-Photography-Shop (external link)

If you search for VAT on that store, many products with "NO VAT" will be displayed.

They guarantee NO VAT on those items, if you are charged VAT or any other import Tax/Duty, just scan the receipt and mail them, refund will be issued within 24 hours, this applies to UK only.

Does anybody know how they get around the VAT to the UK (as opposed to other European countries)?

they declare it as a non-commercial gift or so, and include a fake invoice (on my 70-200mm F4L it said it was a "tester only" and worth $134 dollars)

But why only UK, are the custom workers there de facto numb skulls? They don't give this service to other countries.

I don't Get It Either.

It appears that UK’s customs department believes (wants to) in that “crap”, I know that the customs department here in Portugal does not, even if you declare it as xxx amount, they go on-line or survey stores to see the average value, and if your declaration isn’t close to it, they charge you the VAT on the their estimate and not the declared value, on top of that they charge you with all kinds of duties and stuff, more so if sender lies in the value.

Declaring it as gift does absolutely nothing, hell, if anything it even helps them out, all these eBay stores try the gift thing...

They even go on eBay to check the item number (if the paperwork inside the order mentions one), match the item, final price, etc.

Let’s just say they do pretty much everything to discourage you from importing outside the European Union.

And with all this verification procedures, you can expect to wait a long time to receive the items you purchased.

Occasionally due to overload they let some things go without charging you anything, especially on Christmas time and summer vacation peaks.

One could understand UK’s customs department being fooled in the beginning, but then it would be too many “tester” only, low value etc., blacklist the sender, and charge all items to full price and them some.
