Perhaps you should switch to a DSLR,then. It isn't cheap, and you'll have to process the images, but the outcome, IMO, is well worth it.

And, Rang, I'll probably have my camera converted to IR by Lifepixel. They do a great job. :)

Elizabeth...what mount are you using for astrophotograpy...or are you doing the conversion to do just straight IR shooting?

I know the sensitivity range is very different between the Hoya IR filter and Cokin with the Hoya being better but I thought I would pick up the Cokin to play with (with out messing with the bodies IR filter yet.

I would like to hear from you about which filter you ended up using and how the Lifepixel conversion went.
