i think this is the right place to post this...

anyway, I need to get a bracket, i was looking at the "Flash Rig" topic yesterday and saw many people use the Delta Flip Flash Bracket. We don't have that here, so i'll have to order from the states. But my question is:

Are Manfrotto flash brackets better? If not, how are they different?

I'm totally confused, i know the Delta one can bend and stuff, but is the Manfrotto better?

Thanks guys! :D

Matt

not sure about the manfrotto bracket but ever since i got my delta bracket my keeper rates are much better. only thing i wish is that the flash bracket is a little longer.

I use that Manfrotto one with the two arms. It's alright, it gets the job done but isn't very flexible, and ultimately it doesn't get the flash where I want it. I don't really use it that much anymore, and if I were to buy another bracket I would definitely go with the Delta...it's probably the best one for macro short of expensive Wimberly and RRS units.

i see, thanks, Eric :)
That's what i thought after looking through some pics of the manfrotto, the arms seem a bit complicated compared to the Delta.

Now, i can order it from the US, but the shipping is the cost of the bracket. Man....
I'm getting my friend to check if the delta is available in Hong Kong...

oh one more question, if i do get the delta, all i need is the Canon off-camera cord right? attach the bottom of the flash to the cord and screw the other end on the arm?

One other flash bracket to consider would be the Hakuba LH-1 ballhead- also available on Ebay. Fairly cheap but you are advised to replace the ballhead clamp fitting with another small ballhead with just a standard 1/4" screw so that you attach the off camera cord via the thread on the bottom rather than the lugs. Apparently the lugs have a high breakage rate. Using similar setups I'm able to keep the diffuser at the end of the lens no matter what lens setup/magnification I'm using by rotating the ball head and straightening the flash.
You should get the idea for my slight DIY brackets on my camera setups below.
