The above is a wildlife reserve in Dorset, England. I visited the place today hoping to see a rare butterfly called a brown hairstreak. After fighting my way through hordes of tourists on their way to the seaside I arrived to find no brown hairstreak. Nada. Zilch. I did get these consolation prizes though. The first is everyone's current favourite a common darter. This is a female. The second is the only painted lady I've seen this summer, so it wasn't so bad.
