430ex randomly emitting every so often?

hey guys

on saturday when i was shooting a party i noticed that the 430ex would sometimes fire itself for maybe 1-2 seconds. its kinda hard to explain, but its not like a constant flash, maybe extremely fast bursts.

is this normal for a 430ex? its probably happened to me twice since ive had it in the past week.

as far as i know, my flash unit functions flawlessly.

Did you accidently hit the DOF preview button with the flash mounted? That happens from time to time if you aren't careful.

I'll bet that's it - happened to me a few times and surprised the crap outta me until I figured out what was going on.

Also, you can disable this in the custom functions - at least you can in the 580EX, I'm not sure about the 430.

i just turned my camera / flash on to press the DOF button, and yes thats it! now i can sleep at night.
