Hi everyone,

I'm in the market for DAM cataloguing software. Up until recently, I was all set on the iView Media Pro, until I discovered that Microsoft has purchased the company, and the software is now part of the Microsoft Expression range, specifically the Expression Media. Now, I'm on a Mac for many reasons, one of them being free from much of the annoying Microsoft nonsense that seems to define a lot of their software - it being generally much less user friendly, and downright frustrating to use in some instances.

My other choice is Extensis Portfolio, as I've heard good things about this one. On the negative side, I can't seem to find a trial version of this, but on the positive - my money won't be going to Microsoft. I have downloaded a trial version of Expression Media from the Microsoft website, and will try it out.

The software will be used in conjunction with Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Bridge, if that makes any difference. While I would prefer to stay away from Microsoft, if it really is the best out there, I will keep my mind open to that possibility. Now, even though I have only mentioned these two - what do YOU use and why? Please share as much detail as you can about why you chose the software that you did, since I am determined to find the best one for me, before shelling out the money (if possible).

So... what is the best DAM software to use with CS3, on a Mac??

I haven't tried the Mac version but Media Pro rocks!

So what if the money goes to MS, Expression Media is still a bargain at what MS are charging for it.

Nothing against paying Microsoft if it really is the best out there (I will be trying it out). At the same time, I'd rather give my money to someone else if there are alternatives that are equal or better...
