Hello all,

I was at a local camera store the other day and they had a used 70-200 2.8 L IS. I have never held an L lens in hand before. The gentleman put it on a 30D for me and let me take a few shots. The question I have is should the lens focus motor still be going after the picture is taken? It was wierd to me but that may be how the lens acts. Can someone point me in the right direction? I would like to buy this lens as the glass on it was mint but wasn't sure if the lens was bad.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

That's not the focus motor, it's the stabilizer motor. It doesn't turn off for a couple seconds after you press the shutter or focus buttons

If you question, try a brand new one and compare.
