Went out again today to my thistle/goldenrod patch to shoot hovers. Was lucky enough to find some mating. I find they are easier to shoot in flight than single hovers as they arent paying as much attention to you. I have yet to get a decent in flight of a single hover.

One thing that bothered me about my first set of shots was that I couldnt get one that showed the wings of the upper fly, I did manage one this time.

#1 this was as close to a head on shot as I could get

#2 another side on shot

IMAGE: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e286/bromm/IMG_5613-01.jpg

#3 finally my shot with the upper flie's wings showing

#4 This is how close I came to getting two pairs in the same frame, I shadowed them but could only get one or the other in focus, my arms were so tired that when I finally took the shot I missed them both.

#5 I think this is a hover of some sort.

Thanks for looking!

Super series again Trevor.

Two in one shot - now you're gett8ing greedy. :) I'd be delighted just to capture a single pair.

Think I'd plump for #1 as my favourite.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I must have chased the single hovers for over an hour with no success. They really are easier to get close to when they are preoccupied. :D
