Armoured Ant

I've never noticed the spiky body armour on these ants, but then I've never shot them until now. This is the only shot I got of him, it certainly tries your patience when they won't stay still.

I've seen these both in Sydney, and up here in Ipswich (where they do seem more prevalent). They don't like standing still, so they are hard to get shots of. I nabbed a few quick shots of them a week and a half ago, but didn't consider them good enough to post. I can't remember what their names are though, will have to look it up again for you when I get home. Good shot.
