Hi,
I just got a S3 from ebay Hong Kong at a quite good price, but when I received the camera personally I'm quite happy with my camera is cool and taking good pictures, but some of my friends said this camera seems kinda of old looks not quite "brand new". I have no idea of that but I really don't like to have a refurbished camera, does any one know how to find out when the camera is made.

Thank you.

The S3 IS was announced on late February 2006 and reached the stores around May 2006.
Probably Canon knows the manufacturing date from the serial number, but I guess it is not public info.
Anyhow, you might buy the very first S3 IS brand new or the last manufactured after several users owned it. You must thrust the seller’s information.
I guess that the chance of getting a used camera from an ebay bargain is high.
If its price was low, it is in good condition and works fine, enjoy it.

The image counter, if it was not reset to 0 is the only way to know how many times the shutter button was pressed.

I installed the S3 hacked firmware on my S3 recently and there is an option of "show build info" I 'm not sure if the "build info" means when the camera is made.
My camera "build info" is 9-July-2007, is it when the camera is made?

I believe that'll be the build date for the version of the hack. July 2007 seems kind of late for a manufacture date for an S3; the S5 was shipping by then.

I see
that make more sense, should be the build date of the hack.

OP is asking WHEN, not WHERE. Slight difference.
