B&H's return policy says no more than 200 shutter actuations are allowed for a return without a restocking fee.

What has been your experiences on returning the Mark III with AF issues?

I also found that out the hard way.

I wrote about it in DP review and got slammed for it, name calling etc.

I have since decided I will use this forum, and FM from now on.

In fairness to BH one of its staff who was on the DP review forum did e-mail me and tell me they have had a problem with people ordering and using a camera etc. and then return it after they were done.

From what I understand there were some people on that forum that was bragging about doing that very thing.

Doing that never even crossed my mind.

I can now see both sides, but in business you have to be able to have a good return policy. I don't think BH's is.

A local camera retail outlet where I am will not take any returns for any reason.

They told me the same thing, people use it then return it. I guess this might happen once in a while, but to refuse any & all returns is unreasonable.

I will not shop there anymore. There are other stores here that don't have that policy.

Different from you post, I noticed you said they would take a return with a restocking fee.

They told me they will not take a camera back with > 200 actuations regardless.

I am pretty sure that is their policy, after 200 it is yours for good.

If you're concerned about issues like this the answer is simple, dont buy one to find out. Keep hold of your money, sit back and wait. These issues will be resolved sooner rather than later - then you can buy one.

Why buy something for so much cash that may well have problems? You surely can't need it that badly...

This is what I am doing... I have originally planned to buy one this month and I have found that the AF issue is not going away even with the firmwares... so I decide to hold on to at least one of my cameras and wait for that to settle.
