E-Session with Martika & Kris (POST 10,000)

I couldn't think a of a better way to celebrate my ten thousandth post on this forum than to share photos of my surrogate daughter and her fiance. Martika was a member of my yearbook staff until she moved away at the end of her sophomore year. We always stayed in touch and remained close, however. She and Kris have a baby girl together and have decided to take the plunge on October 13th. What they lack in material wealth, they make up for with their love for one another.

Yippee Liza 10,000! Great way to do it! I have been waiting for this one!

These are great shots, and knowing how you feel about these kids makes these masterpieces!

The last one shows such emotion...how great that they would stay in touch with you, think of the impact you have had on their lives...

Thanks both of you for the feedback. Most of the kids stay in touch and will come back to visit from time to time.

Congrats, Liza! You are way catching up to me! I always read your comments mainly because you and I are both teachers and enjoy that as a passion. I am not teaching full or part time this year, I'm burned out because of the wedding thing, but I plan on volunteering with my photography, at least. You do so much for your kids. I think it's great. Hope to be neck-n-neck with you on the 20,000 side, maybe we can close the gap with Tim?

Thanks guys! I'm just about burned out, too, trying to teach, do the yearbook, and manage my own business at the same time. It really wears me out. If I can get a steady stream of bookings for senior portraits and weddings, I'll probably call it quits a few years early. And I don't think we'll ever catch up to Tim, or Ronald for that matter. But it is fun to try.

Nice job... They look like they are really in love! Too bad there's none of their cute baby! I feel your pain with teaching and doing photography! Now I am just focusing on photography. It was so much doing it all! Hang in there!

Thanks, Joanna! They decided to leave Lily at home with a sitter, although I would have loved getting a few shots of her. And it sure is too much trying to do it all, being a single parent as well. Someday soon I hope to focus only on the photography, too.

Very nice set. I wish that young couple all the success in life...if the love is there the rest will follow

Don't let the grind get to you. Prioritize! Focus on the day job to keep food on the table. Keep with the teaching at least until you secure your pension...that will give you the freedom to enjoy your photography passion at a pace and level of your choosing.

As for postings...I figure I'll catch you and Suzie as I approach my 100th birthday

EDIT: Were those taken in Naperville? I was there a couple of years ago and they had animal statues all over the place...fun to photograph for sure.
