I was at Center Island last week and took this before getting onto the ferry back. As I am poting this I realize that i need to rotate it a little more, but aside from that, how can I make this better?

Nice... no... a very good image. While I think I should hate the pilings, I don't, they add a foreground dimension that adds a touch of lonliness to a crammed full place. I'd be tempted to turn the thing into a square taking most of my cut from the top. While the lower clouds add information, there's only negative space in the upper fifteen to twenty percent of the image and you might even shave a tad from the bottom in the process.

I might also sneak the middle range up some... darkening it. And perhaps some more darkened saturation could improve the blues of the sky? Particularly if they were to more mimic the blues in the water. But don't darken those clouds. A darker sky would better set off your high key city shot that reeeeely pops.

Thanks for sharing Malone. You have a terrific eye.

I like the 1st one better. Cut some of the sky out. Do a little curves adjustment, do some selective coloring and a little Sat. to it. Then some sharpening and you should be good.

I like the first one more as well, colors are great, but you could have improved the composition by placing that wooden thing (or whatever it is :p ) somewhere else. 1/3rd of the left would be okay, or 1/3rd of the right, but placing objects in the middle usually isn't good for composition!

Anyway, it looks good, you used a good aperture etc. You could have used a polarisation filter to get a more blue sky, but that's just on a side note ;)
