Here's a few pics i took from this past weekend's Thunder in the Valley Drag race event. It's a big yearly thing over here, and this year i got unrestricted access, so i could roam around anywhere i wanted. Only had to use 2 lenses too, my rented 70-200 2.8IS, and my 85 1.2. I was going to rent a T/S lens too, but couldn't justify the cost, maybe next time. Saw a bunch of other photogs there, most using canon(20/30d's), 1 or 2 nikons though and i even saw an olympus ;)
Here's a random sampling of some of the pics i took.

Dang these are dope. I love the silverish haze over the pics. The first one with the tire wrinkle is sick!

Very cool shots! The first one has a nice 80s look to it :)

Thanks for the replies. All of them have been PP'd, i got lazy and just used my Lucisart plugin for all of them, in varying degrees. #2 and 3 were shot with my 85mm wide open at 1.2 :)

Great series. I'm really like the processing on the shot of the slingshot dragster. The starting line also looks pretty tore-up. Can see a few spots where the rubber has peeled off the track.

Nope, I just used a small amount of USM for them, on top of the lucisart.

Love the front engine dragster. Take about dangerous though. Looks like it is a runway, no guardrails at all!!

Yep, it is actually just an airport runway, once a year when they hold this event it's converted into a dragstrip for the weekend. The crowd is about 30-40ft away and is separated from the track by a fence and a row of logs though, and there's only the tower on the other side. Hasn't been too many problems in the 5 years or so the event has been held, and i hope it stays that way.
