2 shots, fly and spider

Two recent shots. Fairly regular fly shot, and a cute lil spider missing a few limbs.

As for the lens, I was using the Tamron 90mm macro. I think both were taken at 1:1.

thats it? with a 90mm u can get shots like this? is the canon 100mm macro capable of such shots?

I have always loved macro photography, im just lacking the equipment to do it

The canon 100 macro will get the same results, if not better. I think the IQ of both lenses are fairly similar and with both you can get a 1:1 ratio. Combine that with the tubes you already have and you'll get an even higher magnification. You'll be producing outstanding shots in no time, far better than my amateurish attempts.

The only other thing I used with these was the 430ex, which you already have anyway. I should really get a diffuser and bracket for it though.

wow really a flash? I just assumed when doing macro photography like this, the subject would be to close to benefit from it

I find I need the flash for the smaller apertures, especially now in winter.
