Taken in a dangerous area at 11pm. I guessed the manual settings, took the picture (24sec.) and packed my tripod up and ran back to my car!

Taken along the muddy Ohio. Hows it?

I like it, Maybe crop a little off the bottom of image.
Then again it might spoil the colours in the reflection.

Yea, im not a huge fan of HDR, but it has its moments where it can be useful and beautiful and this would be one of them.

Whats dangerous about the location? Near water? under bridge at night? secluded? transvestite hookers? What? LOL.

Um, thats not HDR. Its a RAW picture then just pp in photoshop. It looks hdr?

hmm. And its dangerous because its close to the "west" side of town. Gangs, etc.

I think it looks great. I agree with twisted pixels on the crop. Love the color in this. Where was this that it was so dangerous?

Thank you. At my "home photography forum" I get ignored. Nice to finally get some attention from real photographers.

Now, as for the location. Basically, it was just downtown Louisville. But you have to understand that while its fine to be here during the day, at night its a whole different story. I take off my $700 watch, leave my wallet in the car, and park where I have to pay and its well lit. Its simply too easy for thugs/homeless to see a (presumably) big and nice camera mounted on a tripod with only 1 guy in the way (me) from money at a pawn shop. Its just nerve-racking. Thats all. I honestly did "click and run" though. I got off 2 exposures. One for 25 seconds and one for 30 seconds. Packed my tripod as I walked to my car. I tried to shut off the camera immediately after the photo but it stayed on while it saved the RAW.

Do you all like this version?

Cool perspective and I like the colours. Don't think I would crop it.

I'm sorry for being confusing. I was saying that a lot of times HDR doesn't do it for me, but that in this situation if it was used, would be an appropriate time. :-D Thanks for the story, it clears things up a lot. Thanks for sharing as well man.

Yeah no problem. Hey, since you're in NC, have you ever heard of a tiny town called "Robbinsville"? Pop is like 8000. Some family there.

Anyway, yeah I might go into photomatix with 3 separate exposures of the original raw and see what kinda of HDR I can pull out of it.

Good capture, specially considering the circumstances. The reflections and calm water makes the shot here, in my opinion. I think it can benefit from a slight tilt correction, but it's no biggie.
