OMG - I just noticed your title!!! I about spit out my beer!

You must have missed the title fairy thread on that one(at least I think it was the TF thread). I liked the other avatar with that title better though. The cat laying on its back looking at the camera. They went well together.

What is good for a manufacturer isn't always good for the end users.

It is the competition among manufacturers that drives them to release new products/features.

The original PC and PC/AT line died because IBM was alone and didn't care too much about the products. When being overrun by better "copies" they desperately tried the PS/2 line which people mostly ignored. All it basically got us whas the PS/2 mouse/keyboard connector, and the VGA/XGA graphics resolution.

Intel got a significant injection by having to fight off the Atmel Athlon processors. The earlier x86 alternatives where not good enough for Intel to need to care about.

The biggest airplanes wouldn't be what they are without the Boeing/Airbus competition. Why spending billions on improving fuel economy if you are already the best?

For those that haven't heard of Scott Kelby, he's founder of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals and has authored several books on Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. Read one of his books and you'll know he is a real world, common sense guy who knows his stuff. He's like the anti-Ken Rockwell.

Agreed. I have his PS CS2 for Digital Photography book and it's a straight forward, easy to understand format. Many people think Scott's sense of humor is dorky but he's just having fun with his writing. He breaks down PS into layman's terms.

Someday, I'd like to attend one of his PS courses. It would be money well-spent.

Gear: Kodak Brownie and homemade pin-hole cameras. Burlap sack for a bag.

Funny how poeple get of on nonsense of tagents. I just thought it was cool to see a LEADER in the industry who is a avid Nikon user being swayed by Canon. He is a great photographer and even better PS editor.

Being this is a CANON forum I figured you guys would think it is cool to see the 5d getting some light form very well known pros.

By the way he updated today witha real world review of the 5d.

And actually I just don't see how Scott didn't know this was coming. Surely Nikon knows he shoots with their stuff and keeps him at least slightly informed.

Scott had the biggest sales of ALL tech books last year, across any categories. His books are that good. His seminars are even better. Yes, his humor is a little dorky, but that'sa good thing since by the very fact that any of us are here on this forum we're all at least a LITTLE bit dorky!

Don't forget about Photoshop User TV too!
