Blue Pidgeon

I'm not sure about the exact name of this bird but they say its from the pidgeon family.

Nice shot, and a very beautiful bird. Can he fold up the topknot to fly?

The Western Crowned pigeon is white, but I imagine this is a strain of that breed?

Thanks, Mitch. I'm not sure if he can fold his head dress but definitely it can fly because it was perched atop a high branch.

Yes, Adam, a handsome bird indeed. The other birds beside it didn't have the same hair style which must have been the females.

Its the eyes and the black band that caught my eye before the hair style.

Don't you have a fuller body picture ... from what I can see of the wing and the eyes this can be related to the African Rock Pigeon.
