They will numb you up real good...you shouldn't feel a thing...

Now about the picture taking part....you can't take pictures for a few days after because _______? (Your eye teeth will be sore?)

the dentist told me that the bottom ones are going to be a bit of a challenge and that Ill most likely be drugged up in pain for a few days.

I had all mine taken out when I had braces put in when I was still in school. When you are that young the teeth don't exist yet so they drilled into my gums and pulled out the roots. Good thing I was under general anesthetic. Face swelled up big though

My surgeon gave me nitrous oxide and a valium drip. Two of my teeth were growing towards the side of my skull. He had two teeth out and I didn't even know he had started!

My insurance company didn't want to pay for the valium drip. Something about "Other equivalent anethesias available" blah blah blah. I didn't care. I was a poor college student and I would have paid DOUBLE for that valium drip.

Get the valium drip. Pay extra. Postpone your appointment if he has to fly some in from Europe. Really. You do NOT want gas and needles in your mouth. You want something coursing through your veins and altering your perception of reality. Marinate your brains for this surgery. You want him to hang drugs in a bag and stick an IV in your arm. Give him a $100 bill on the side if you have to. Get the drip!

As a DDS let me tell you you WANT the IV sedation...if they are doing the extractions WITHOUT sedation it will not be fun...ask me how I know....LOL

Have an ORAL SURGEON perform the extractions with IV sedation!

I had hardly any pain when I removed mine. No IV. No sedation. The only thing that hurt a little bit was the needle.

Not much swelling after either.

It's all a question of what the roots looks like.

On the other hand, I have several times repaired cavities without any anesthetics since the needle hurts more than the drilling.

I'm not going to lie... It sucks. I looked like a chipmunk for several days and I was in so much pain that I almost cried. They put me on narcotics and I couldn't take enough. I'm glad that I did all four at once, otherwise I don't think I would have gone back. I stayed awake for the procedure because I didn't fast before the surgery. Sorry dude.

Mmmmmm, I still don't remember that WHOLE day. Apparently on the ride out of the office they have a psycadelic hallway you roll down in your wheelchair. My wife still doesn't believe me that I have no recollection of it. LOL All I know is that I felt little to no pain until the next day. At that point I started popping the percocet's and I was good to go in about 3 days. All four of my teeth were fully in when mine were removed I still have them in a plastic bag somewhere too. :)

I had all 4 of mine done under local anesthesia and was back in school that afternoon. Now granted, I looked like a chipmunk, but I was fine. Good luck!

Nowadays it is no big deal. They just go in through your mouth and pop them out. No sweat.

Not like the old days when they used to extract them through your ear. That was much much worse.;)
