I just recently purchased (but have no received yet) my first L glass, the 70-200mm F/4. I was just wondering if anyone has tried putting tubes on this lens before and what was the result?

Using one or two tubes at the 200mm end is very good for butterflies or dragonfies. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lordv/

Try it- always worth it- I'll wager you probably won't get AF with full set on- maybe just the two biggest rings- lol I know crazy that the last little one stops it working sometimes Canon Gripped 350D & 40D
