Where did you hear that about Life Touch? I worked for Josten's this summer and my rep never mentioned that. I think I'll email him and get the skinny on that.

The school told me ... but maybe they just took over Jostens Canada?

Hey Kathy - that shot IS amazing!!

IMAGE NOT FOUND
Byte size: ZERO | Content warning: NOT AN IMAGE

Exposure + 0.30
Fill Light + 59
Blacks + 41

(all this can be done in levels in Photoshop)

Saturation (Overall Saturation) - 21

Luminance (done in the "Hue/Saturation" tool in Photoshop):
Red + 45
Orange + 26
Yellow + 11

Saturation (again, done in "Hue/Saturation" in Photoshop):
Red - 19
Orange - 11
Yellow - 53 (This brings down the intensity of hte flowers and brings back attention to our beautiful senior)
Green - 11
Blue - 38

Bit of a vignette for the finishing touches.

I think it's a fantastic image btw. I love the pose.

Bryan - more photos of Jeff? I can see where your priorities were that day ;)

Kathy - I love that photo! I like the first one but I do really like bright vivid shots when they are meant to be that way. I agree that maybe try some burning or maybe fiddling in lightroom might give you something really nice, too. Or BW - this is definitely one of those images that I'd be playing with for hours!

And I like Bryan's version, too...oh my!

I'll check it out tomorrow and let you know. I'd think my rep would have shared that. Josten's did form a partnership with Disney for some extra things they'll be offering, and they're going to also offer a Blurb-like book to teens.

I talked to my brother (a senior this year) and he thinks it's a great idea. He is goign to talk to some people in his grade and get their thoughts on the idea. Depending on if there is interest, I'm going to go to the Principle and talk to him about it and see if I can get some flyers out.

I'm going to shoot my brother and 3 friends for free and get maybe 20 4x6s with my name, info, e-mail, etc on it and have them pass it out to the other seniors. For every card that comes back my way, I'll give the person who's picture is on the card (i.e. the referral) a set # of prints or something. This should get the word and the ball rolling. We'll see how it goes.

Sounds like a good plan, Bryan. Pre-baby, I was in the schools constantly (was the editor of the local newspaper) and knew all the kids, but now I'm out of the loop, only know the teachers ... but today I met the new editor and she has daughters in grade 11 and 12, so here's hoping I can use them as local models.

We'll have to keep in touch on this subject - you guys work on the eastern crowd, I'll work on the western crowd.
