LOL... there is no DC motor inside our flashes. But many DC electronics will need the proper polarity to function. And I'm not sure, but capacitors in the speedlites are most likely electrolytic so it MUST work in the proper polarity, so there will certainly be circuits in there to prevent reverse polarity damage.

Couldn't take the dog to the vet to get weighed as she's limping too badly to walk and I rarely drive for my errands...

Right on all counts. If we could reverse polarity in the flashes, they would make the room go black, albeit for only a fraction of a second.
