I have the older, crappier, cheaper 75-300 USM III. I bought it for C$100. I LOVE it. Gotten many great shots out of it.

Interesting!! I have one of these lens that I Have pretty much assigned to paper weight duties, maybe I should try it out sometimes at F8 or higher.

Thanks, just wondering as they aren't done here in my area at all so trying to learn a bit, too!

I like the diversity in your blog but I'm not sure I'd add the totally personal things like the camping...I'd do personal things that were directly photography related, like your family shoot as it is clear that this is a passion that goes through your life and that you are always working to capture the important memories in a unique way. And the model stuff I can take or leave - as a bride - as I'd be more interested in what you can do with "non-pros" in a real life setting. But I like the model stuff as it does show that you are comfortable and have individual ideas - which is important to me as a bride coz I don't want the same 100 shots as the next chick. Does that make sense (and/or help lol)?

Definitely makes sense and helps! Thanks Kristin :)

Guess I should have paid more attention to the anti-drug propaganda in high school. LOL

Yeah, my latest entry was camping pictures, but if you look back, I've got a wide variety of family photos, senior pics, model photos, etc, etc ... I think that shows diversity and whatnot, no?

Well I only gave it 5 seconds and got an impression that wasn't ideal, you should probably keep it 100% professional, but put some personality into it somehow without including your private life.

Sorry Tim... but....
I will 100% disagree with this statement. There are LOTS of people that can take great pictures, you have to sell YOURSELF, and by adding your private life to your blog, you do that. It doesn't have to be too much stuff, but I believe it shows who you are, shows that you have a passion for photography outside of charging money for it. I think it really helps. There is NO way I would limit what I put on my blog to just professional stuff.

Damnit, right after I deleted my camping post!

Jenn, love the second image, #1 looks like you are little too high of an angle and #3 is 'ok' but doesn't do much for me, sorry.

I never thought about using my blog as any sort of "advertising" or marketing tool, although it's not a secret -- I'm not hiding it, and yes, I hope it shows "another" side of me.
What it does show, more than anything else, is the more "hobby" aspect of what I love to do (essentially why I love to do it so much, and what got me started in the first place) photos of vacation, going to ruins, close up of cactus (can't ever have enough photos of cactus eh?), and snowdays with the boys...

But about the blogs ... it's a personal pet peeve of mine, when I go to a website, to see spelling and grammar errors. When you're using your blog as a marketing tool, please take the extra time to spell check and read over your post a few times. And it might just be my anal-retentive, Martha Stewart personality, but if I'm looking at a website with the intention of spending money, and everything's not perfect, I'll go elsewhere.
