Just to let you know its available... you need to set color management in your settings... quick test of an AdobeRGB export appeared the same in LR vs Gimp... but washed out in Windows explorer (as expected!)

Big deal, actually.

For those who can't afford, don't want to, drop $600 on CS3, its GREAT!
The main reason I stopped using it in favor of PS Elements was color-management. That, and I got PSE 3 bundled with my Wacom Tablet, but now I'll feel free to use it much more!

great news! GIMP development has accomplished a lot over the past 2-3 yrs.

now we'll see if they get the single-window UI ironed out, to remove the hurdle for the average user.

personally I like the interface the way it is, but that seems to be a real sticking point for a lot of people coming from adobe.

Thanks for that link Gonzo... hadn't seen too much lately in terms of future plans for gimp. It appears the icons definately changed for version 2.4, but still is multiple windows... I'm used to it, but I can see how it can get annoying too.

Here's a website highlighting some of the other improvements with 2.4... looks like a big step forward in several areas...

A lot of nice improvements :)

If they could just add support for 16-bit/channel, everything would be perfect.

Hi TonyK - no, that's not me. Maybe we're both just H.S. Thompson fans.....
