Long shutter speeds on windy days made life difficult and the noise from high ISO and 9 second shots wasn't my preference. Canon 5DmkII / Canon 5D / LifePixel IR 350D / L-glass

All infrared digital needs post processing, especially if you don't custom white balance in the field. A good white balance really takes away a lot of the work. Another thing to do is watch the red channel if you have an RGB histogram. (i wish this XT had one...another reason ide love a 5D-IR) Making sure the red channel doesn't clip will give much better results. Again something quickly adjusted in raw processing. Maxmax.com or lifepixel.com are the first two that come to mind. Basically the open the camera up, remove the filter infront of the sensor and replace it with a different one. Several options are available at this point. I chose one that is straight ahead infrared light only. That means I cannot take visible light (normal) photos at all. The camera becomes sensitive to IR light only but I can take pictures and expose as if I am working in normal light. Fast shutters, view through the lens, no filters, etc... There are some options to be able to do both normal and IR light, but then you need filters infront as well. Also some IR variations that lifepixel offers that build upon the IR only concept.
