My IR XT arrived today! Simply fantastic. Now I can't wait for the 5DmkII to come out so I can send my current 5D for conversion. I really prefer the 5D to the XT. There is a huge difference in image quality from what i've seen. I also like the controls and body better. (and full frame)

But anyways..... the IR only camera setup is fantastic! Tried with both the 35L and the 24-105L, I am getting great results so far. Whats even better...my results have been...indoors!!!!!! Impossible with the R72 filter or similar. (well not impossible...but not worth the effort) And the best part...I can shoot portraits in IR and moving action! Its definitely worth the money for conversion.

These are sharp. I like them. I usually see IR landscapes and architecture. What do people look like (in IR)? Do you do anything to keep the sky blue?

People look awesome in IR. Lifepixel has an example of a bride on their webpage in IR. I have a portrait I took the other day in IR that I will be posting later. Its a really neat look. Im surprised you don't see more of it.

The first one is fab, although if you shot it again personally i'd lose the foreground, it spoils the reflection!

Yeah, that ghostly bride image to me is just fantastic! I almost prefer shooting that to conventional photography!

Very nice, I've just got a R72 filter in the post coming my way. I know it's not the best but it'll have to do for now. When I eventually get my 40D I'm going to convert this 350D permanently

Yeah, I went almost 6 months with an R72 filter. Its the best way to guage your interest. If you become restless with the filter, and just wish every shot you take in color was IR, its time for conversion!

If anyone is on a budget and wants to try hand held IR here is my set up. Pick up a used Nikon 950, Ive seen them go for as little as $50. I payed $120 for mine about a year ago and it was mint with box and all OEM accessories. Pick up a 28-52mm step up ring and then put on your R72 filter, set the camera to AV, wide angle, 35mm I think , at f2.6. ISO 80 gives about 1/30 shutter, if you boost it all the way to ISO360 (+2 on the LCD) you get between 1/125 and 1/250 depending on the sun light. If you have it set to color you get the funky green and pinks with white plants or you can switch it to Black and white, auto white balance works great. The 2.11 megapixles can do 8x10's and 10x14's just fine.

I posted a couple shots on the landscape forum today if you would like to check them out.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

Wow nice shots. But i find it somewhat costly do do, since you need to have a second camera that you want to give up for them to convert to IF only. But it is Amazing in the results. I personally would stick to IF filters. But if you got the time and the money heck definitely go the conversion way.

I haven't shot people yet, but I've seen post's here in the past.
Have shot apx.480 landscapes in the past 2 days, hoping to shoot
1-2k more over the next few months to have plenty to PP during the
cold winter months. Hate to say that nasty 4 letter word s-n-o-w, but
am looking forward to experimenting this winter.
Being able to shoot hand-held, with fast shutter speeds is a joy.
Shot the moon yesterday 9a.m. framed by tree branches, on bright blue sky.
When finish PP will have to post, should look awesome; bright white leaves
framing bright moon on black sky.
Gonna make effort to try some macro this week.
I'm lovin' my "new" life-pixel converted 10D.
Thanks to all for your comments, !!
