Jim's bought his '62 Dodge Dart last November, & it's a work in progress. It has a 440 block bored out to 478cid producing 520bhp through a 727 trans & 3.55 rear end.
It's been balanced & has a 7-quart oil pan.
The paint is like black glass. Too bad it was stuck in by the trees!

I understand that the person who designed this was fired, because it's an ugly devil, isn't it? But there's a point where something can transcend "ugly" & become "cute", sort of like a Shar Pei puppy, so I call them "Mutts"; small, light, ugly, & fast dawgs! ;)

Would that be the same person that designed the Plymouth Valiant of around the same vintage?
To be honest, this doesn't even resemble a Dodge Dart from how I remember them, and I'm sure that's probably because they changed it again right away? ;)
Anyway, Nice shots of what appears to be a pretty rare Dodge Dart Frank. :D
I remember the 413 Wedge as well. A very strong engine in it's own right, and that cross ram manifold sets it off nicely.

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

No airbag? I like the pictures. I never seen that car in person. And I have been to a lot of car shows. I love the lines. It has a chevy II nova look to it. Kinda sorta. This one looks like the ugly step child though.

Enough to turn it sideways if you aren't careful. On 2nd thought, don't worry about that, 'cause neither you nor I will ever get to drive it! :D

I'm sure that "they" hated it so much that they re-tooled & really cleaned up the lines the next year, '63 Dodge Dart.
There are links to some more "Mutts" in there.

EDIT:
I'm told that the guy that designed it was hired from Studebaker & was promptly fired the next year. :D
