Hey all
I haven't posted many pics in a while, so here is one I got tonight whilst in the garden.
This is a pretty descent sized Anole, most are usually half the size of this guy, he looks pretty old from his skin texture, but that doesn't mean much as these guys can adjust texture and color to blend in with their surroundings pretty well
C & C welcome on Composition etc

Allan,
You're one lucky guy; I wish animals like that would hang around my garden.
Excellent shot, nice natural lighting and lovely background.
The only thing that IMO would improve the shot would be getting rid of that piece of wood on the right. I would experiment with either cloning it out or cropping tighter.

pretty nice! I would have gone F11 to get more details out of it. Pretty nice shot, but like zman said. I would remove the piece of wood on the right.

Nice shot of the little guy! I agree with what the others have said about adjusting the photo. A little USM if you have photoshop could help too.

Thanks for looking and commenting
yeah we have loads of these guys running around, there are a lot of babies too, they look pretty funny as they have huge heads.
I had previously removed the bit of garden fence to the right, but it looked unbalanced if that makes any sense, here I did a quick crop just to remove it.

Yeah I had thought about the Aperture, my main constraint was the fading light and the fact I was already shooting at ISO 800.
if I had gone to f/11 I would have lost 2 stops, which would have resulted in a shutter speed near 1/15th sec.
I was already way bellow my reciprocal.
which in 35mm my lens was at 420mm (263mm x 1.6 = 420)
My minimum shutter speed should have been 1/420th to avoid getting camera shake unfortunately the next available shutter speed is 1/500th

So as you can see at 1/60th for my shutter at 263mm I think I did pretty good handheld, I definitely need an IS lens though at somepoint.

Yeah I did use USM in PS CS, I used a setting of Amount 150%, Radius of 1.5 & Threshold of 8, anymore than this setting resulted in the ISO noise starting to show through, just enough to enhance detail around the eye without getting halos.

but thank you all for the CC

Mark
I see these guys outside my house everyday, this is the biggest one out of the lot I see, if they accidentally stumble onto my front porch, I usually end up with one in the house as the cat likes to bring in presents for us.
So I have to rescue those pretty quick.
but they are really neat little critters, this guy right here is about 8ins long tip of nose to tip of tail.
I'll have to see if I can get some more of him during his territorial display.
Thanks for viewing.

hope I dont sound to nerdy, but those are brown anoles one of the most invasive lizards in the US. Very cool lizards but please don't wish you have them b/c if you do, then most of the lizards you do have will soon be gone and all you have are these guys. Same goes with the medditerrean gecko.

But either way nice picts!
