Why doesn't this have ISO 6400 like the 1dmkIII?

It does, possibly. The real announcement has not been made. It makes sense to have 6400, but really, who uses it anyway?

Where's Mark and his credit card? :D
Be careful though, the ad says the improved AF is based on the 1D Mark III :p

Amazon has taken down the page

Thanks to a nice moderator, this has been fixed :)

Apparently, it was a design compromise. Here's a review on amazon.com (external link) that asserts the new lens is superior from 16 to 24 mm. However, from 24 to 35 mm, the Mk I is supposedly better. Others on fredmiranda.com have come to similar conclusions, but yet others have claimed the opposite. Oh, well.

This is shocking news ! I thought the 16-35 II was perfect.
Can you bring some FM links for the same conclusions ?

What amazed me is that I just popped over to the Nikonian's site and there are more posts about both the 40D and 1Ds MIII than there are on POTN. Reading some of those comments are really funny. They are counting on Nikon releasing their 9fps FF camera on the 28th of August.

I'm definately holding off on either of these cameras until Ken Rockwell has a chance to review them :)

It seems to be back again and the 40d page has dissappeared... lmao!

I think I'd look for an alternate source besides a user's opinion on Amazon.com.

My own experience with the two lenses differs from that of the author, and favors the Mk II over the Mk I by a fair margin.

Maybe some actual testing and measuring is in order.

this made my day.

btw- the camera specs do nothing for me as posted. If it has dual D!GIC III and ISO 6400 then yes it's a whopper.

Again, where is ISO 25?

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

Here's a link from an FM thread comparing both 16-35s and the 17-40 (external link):

Though it's not enough to draw a conclusion for good, it does support the amazon.com review. I can see that Mk. I is better at 24mm and upwards. Look at the corner detail and distortion, for instance.

I agree, I should have worded my original post more carefully and not made any conclusions :(

Uh, anyone want to buy a very slightly used 1D Mark III?

That full frame puppy will be my new pet as soon as it hits the streets.

Yeah, yeah, I'm a gearhead, and proud of it.

Ken Crokwell, or whatever his name is, can kiss my petunah. I don't care what he says. Me like and me want it. Me will get it.

Both pictures are wrong. There's still the battery button on that one. The new one will not have that.
