One minute it's here the next it's gone. People are so excited and are franticly searching websites for leaks. My guess is we'll know for sure in 2 weeks. Sounds like a nice camera.

Yeah, its funy watching the ball go back and forth, then disappearing altogether, then *oops* its here for sure.....

I'll believe it when I see the product listed at the canonusa website.

Even then I'll wait a year or more for the hype to deflate a bit so I can purchase one (if I even need it) that has had the bugs and kinks all worked out and be a bit cheaper since it would be "old news" by then.

What I cant understand for the life of me, is why people rush to get something that obviously is flawed or defective and then have to deal with waiting for patches and or fixes. As long as we as consumers continue to flock to the slaughter like ewes and sheep, the manufactures will continue to release unfinished products. I can see it now, MK III all over again except this time it will be for the folks that do not have as deep a pocket, in the mean time CANON is laughing all the way to the bank.

Look folks I am a CANON user just as most of us here, but is there a reason for the people to rush to get these products. You have been working all along well with what you have, haven't you?

Now you're just being ridiculous...

Don't start to introduce common sense or realistic thinking into the equation.

My mind saw 40D and Hooters in the same sentence and I thought I was back in the G&N forum.

Oh, I think I have a pretty good reason. If I don't replace the cameras I use to shoot weddings soon, there's a good chance they'll die in the middle of a wedding, and I'll end up getting sued. Besides, the new 40D extends the dynamic range on the highlight end by a stop, which will be great for shooting those white dresses that have a tendency to get blown out. And the auto ISO feature is a godsend for wedding work. I can't wait to get one.

I can't really see any need for the 40D. I have the 30D and the only advance I can see is a mythical wireless interface that I can't follow up on.

That is the only advance you see? Did you even look at the specs? While the advances might not be enough for you to jump (or slightly step out) from the 30D it certainly has more advances than the wireless device.
