Hi,

Depending on where you are staying, in the North West of the island, there's a weekly party called Jump Up or something like that.

This link has references to it, definately a good hang out for people shots.

We also took a boat trip down the West of the island to the pitons. Very photogenic they are too.

Hope this helps

I cant remember the name of the waterfalls we visited when there many years ago but they were worth the visit. As said before the Pitons are a must :) Enjoy your honeymoon.

Don't forget water and flashlights - you're still in hurricane season in 4 weeks.

"With sustained winds near 150 mph, Dean left behind floods, debris and at least three deaths on the islands of St. Lucia, Martinique and Dominica on Friday."

You may want to keep an eye on the Caribbean situation from this extremely powerful & dangerous hurricane or any others that follow. While absolutely gorgeous, many of these small islands don't have a whole lot of ability to rapidly recover from the devastation. If already booked, check with your tour agency or the hotel itself as to conditions and if necessary or possible, rebook somewhere else.

Good luck and congratulations,

Get travel insurance - this will allow you to cancel in the event of something like this.

We did our honeymoon sailing in the Virgin Islands back in 1987. While the hurricane situation was much calmer then, we spent an hour every evening listening to the VHF for the positions of tropical waves (precursor to tropical storms and hurricanes) and keeping track of them. Now through mid October is the busiest time for Hurricane season.

When we do travel down there (and we do it often) we do make sure that we carry our own "emergency" stuff like compact but powerful flashlights (LED ones are great), extra batteries, leatherman or equivalent, some basic First Aid stuff, and cash (not just credit cards). If you are stranded in a situation like this, you can't spend with credit cards (no power) and you may need to buy your way off the island post or pre hurricane. In times like that, cash is king. Then, when down there, keep abreast of the weather out in the Atlantic a ways.

J.

Thankyou all for your responces, and for some of the points that have been brought up,Just need to sort out now which bits of kit to take with me and i will be all set for the 2 weeks.

Would of loved to of taken a tripod but need to go easy on the amount of weight i take with me but think i might get another lens as a general walk about either the 24-70 f2.8 or the 24-105 f4.

What do you think of the camera and the housing?

I'm considering this same one (don't need to get married, already have a spouse).
