You may want to keep an eye on the Caribbean situation from this extremely powerful & dangerous hurricane or any others that follow. While absolutely gorgeous, many of these small islands don't have a whole lot of ability to rapidly recover from the devastation. If already booked, check with your tour agency or the hotel itself as to conditions and if necessary or possible, rebook somewhere else.
Good luck and congratulations,
Get travel insurance - this will allow you to cancel in the event of something like this.
We did our honeymoon sailing in the Virgin Islands back in 1987. While the hurricane situation was much calmer then, we spent an hour every evening listening to the VHF for the positions of tropical waves (precursor to tropical storms and hurricanes) and keeping track of them. Now through mid October is the busiest time for Hurricane season.
When we do travel down there (and we do it often) we do make sure that we carry our own "emergency" stuff like compact but powerful flashlights (LED ones are great), extra batteries, leatherman or equivalent, some basic First Aid stuff, and cash (not just credit cards). If you are stranded in a situation like this, you can't spend with credit cards (no power) and you may need to buy your way off the island post or pre hurricane. In times like that, cash is king. Then, when down there, keep abreast of the weather out in the Atlantic a ways.
