This is the blackest, shiniest insect I've ever seen, I added some fill light in LR to show more detail. Looks like he has an under-bite w/ some nasty teeth. I know nothing about insects, but this is the first time I've seen this little guy in my neighborhood!

Looks like a chafer beetle (aka dung I believe). Nice shots, hard to get them exposed right and yes, they do have some mean looking nippers
