Pete, I think you need to work on your pose a little mate. You look a tad stiff :p:p

Have a look at the shot. The Camera seems to have picked out the front of the armrest that you're laying across to be it's point of focus because the grain is tack sharp but you're a little soft.

I get the AF going out of focus all the time in my self portraits but out of 20 shots I get 2 that are just right. Take shots and check the preview frequently and don't trip up on anything in the rush!

I am alittle soft, but I'm working on it (K..back to the treadmill I go)
LOL
I know what you meant..and I will work on that..see what I come up with!
Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated!!

Danny,
That's not a bad effect. :) What's the setup look like?

Kim, crawl forward on that couch! You're behind the focus point!

If you're referring to me,

here's a photo of the setup. It's my custom dual ringlight setup. ;)

I also used the onboard flash set to -2ev for some extra kick.

I now come armed with something a tad better looking than my last thread contribution. Needed a quick portrait for something.

Is it still a self portrait when I didn't take it?

Nope ;)

I find manual focus much more effective for Self Portrait. Used a stuffed animal or coat for focus then you stand in.

QUOTED IMAGE

I've admired your shot's up to this one. There's just something about the left side (camera right) of your nose that doesn't look right; it just blends right into the rest of your face without a shadow to be seen.

Still a great shot though!
