I have been planning to buy a 40D for some time and I bought a 400D to tide the time over few months back. 400D is a wonderful camera.
Is it worth upgrading from 400D to 40D?

With all the added features, better build quality, and better control setup, it certainly is worth it. I'm buying one. :)

Yes. Even upgrade to a 30D and you'll see a big improvement.

Is it a better camera? yes, without a doubt. Is it worth the upgrade? Well, it depends on you. If all you are going to do is set it up to fully auto and take snapshots now and then, it may not be worth the hassle or expense of upgrading. If you want to shoot sports and either know what you are doing or are willing to learn, there is no question it is worth it.

Considering that the 350D has been updated to the 400D
The 30D has been updated to the 40D
Both of the 1 series cameras have been updated
It leaves only the 5D at the two year old technology level, The real question should be Do I wait for the 5D to be updated or not?

I think they are expecting the body only to be priced around $1399 CAD, reasonable! :D

Doubt if you would see any IQ improvement, its mainly the better build & ergonomics, although I never really thought much of the 30D when I tried one, so I saved longer & went for the 5D, well worth saving for.
