Canon is very clever nowadays. They'll announce a dozen of very interesting cameras. These two models are very exciting as well. For me A650 IS seems like the A640 and A720 IS like A700.

Canon has identified a light leak affecting a limited number of its Powershot A650 IS cameras?

Yes, I have one of these. Purchased one of the very first in Chicago when I picked up the grip for my 40D at Calumet downtown. I wanted to get the wife a new P&S since she had a very old 2MP Fuji FinePix that we love but, it's old now.

I called Canon support and they won't even begin the repairs until after the 22nd of Oct. I was instructed not to use the LCD flipped out. This is my wife's camera and she was planning to use it on vacation on the 19th for a bit.

So ours will not being going to Canon until after that date anyhow.

looks like a decent point and shoot. I'm considering getting one for myself, and one of those could be a good option - thx for the info, I'm back to considerations now :)

seems like that canon have reversed their specification model numbers is in the glory days of the powershot s-series, where the upper number meant the camera was an upgrade, now the a650 has more of a spec than a 720, weird numbering policy
