A half decent wasp shot...

Finally! lol I always find these guys far too quick to focus in on- but went out today with my flash tunnel (yay I'm back down in Galloway) and snapped a few shots of the various 'bugs' inhabiting the garden

I got this, among others but thought this to be the best- just resized and sharpened slightly.

Yea- now I thought this was one of those solitary wasps that catches caterpillars etc. and maybe it is but there were hundreds of them around a couple of bushes today- I started off in the lower flower beds and saw a few- but went up to the vegetable patch and there were hundreds- lol there were big ones that kept attacking the small ones; sort of brawling then the small ones flew off...

Guess there must just be a lot of food- there were a lot of empty flies lying around in the bushes- past meals; even a large dead hover fly... and a huge blue bottle- impressive lol; though I caught one of the larger common wasps eating a blue bottle last year
