Jbaz: Yeah I was there and all around up and down the fence line all day. Not sure what you look like, but maybe we will talk first part of race week to make meet plans or something....

rcg: yeah it is OOF, I took a coupel dozen with my 500 at 1/125 and just couldnt quite get it sharp holding that beast. I will get better results next race.

THANKS DANN22!!

Yeah it was great meeting a fellow POTN'r out in the real world. It sure was hot out there and I am still paying for it today.

Thanks for the comments my friend. Heading to Atlanta by chance? I will be there from friday morning till sunday night, if so give me a shout on here before hand I'll give ya my cell.

Originally I couldn't justify the 10 hour drive, but after going thru my shots, I just might have to make the trip and to somemore practice.

Don't take that comment wrong... I like what you were doing just that first one didnt deserve to be there with your other greta pics. Certainly the 500 is right at the limit HH shooting and 125 keep rate would obviously be less - Rock on!

Yeah dann2, Road Atlanta is a awesome track. I know where all the good spots are i have been shooting 6-7 events a year for the last 6 years there. Let me know if you decide to make it down.

I like these shots Steve. I'm not a big fan of the tight crop. You lose the sense of speed in the shot. Thanks for sharing these.

I was hand holding my camera with the 300 f/2.8 that I borrowed from another photographer and I couldn't hold it up for more than 10 mins.

I need to get a good sturdy monopod with a swivel head. I don't like mine being fixed and it can't support anymore more then the 70-200, which is fine for right now. I just use the monopod propped onto my arm, acting like another support arm instead of it extended out on the ground. I've had pretty good results doing that way. Looks kinda funny, but it definately takes the load off and feels very stable. Was doing that the whole time out there, and didn't get worn out a bit.

If I get a 300 or 500, I'm gonna built myself a rotating lock support system on my waist, similar to the gun mounts you see on the top of Military Hummer's so I can articulate it to where I need the camera and lens to be. If you've seen mobile mounts for soldiers that use mini-guns, same thing, except I won't be shooting lead... :p They actually take those mounting systems off huey's and blackbirds. But they aren't practical in the field since miniguns, powerpacks, and ammo would be 100+lbs.
