Now that these 3 cameras have been announced what are the chances of a 5D replacement this fall?

What are the chances they will announce a 4th cam?

I'm hoping for a new 5D too.
How can they expect us to buy into the 5D
when all the other cams have 14 bit, improved sensor tech...
The 40D made the 5D look old!

As someone who is looking to upgrade REALLY soon, I personally think for the money the 5D is priced at I don't think the enhancements are worth the premium to be paid... I am also skeptical the 40D will be able to produce a superior picture in low light to the current 5D... I'll be curious to see the reviews... Here's one for buying a 5D now, getting a kick a$$ camera for a price you can't beat...

Heh heh - What remains to be seen is if the images from the 40D make the 5D look old... :)

I looked at the sample pictures the 800 ISO quality even with the "digic III" was entirely unimpressive. No offense 5D is still king of the hill imo for quality of photo. 40D is better for speed and a few other things however dynamic range with quality glass the 5D will be a spectacular camera for a long time.

January 31 through February 2, 2008 - PMA in Las Vegas, Nevada. Big trade show. Canon, Nikon, Epson - anybody involved with imaging will be there. Canon has to have something to introduce, and the sequil to the 5D would be a good bet.

When the 1DMIII was announced they said there will not be any more new bodies from Canon. Now, today they just announce not one but two new bodies. So it is very possible for Canon to announce another body. 5DMII w/ 16-18MP weatherseal, 5+fps, dual DIGIC III, 14BIT color. I think this will be the answer to Nikon w/ their almost and Sony w/ their Parrall Column FF sensor to be announce very soon. Now lets see Sony put a INBODY IS into that FF sensor body!!!

Zero. :) Look for February 2008, basically a 40D with a bigger sensor.

i don't think it will happen. i also don't think canon is as pressured to substantially upgrade the 5d.

there is no competition on this level.
