After shooting at Interpol tonight, i just had to come home and share a quote from the house photographer at the venue. It's too good to be kept quiet.

And it got me thinking of a context in which to put this anecdote. And so i figured, we all once in a while hear a crazy story or quote in or about the hectic world of live music photography. So why not share some of our funniest moments, quotes, or special sayings here...

I'll start.

House photographer:

I wear the most inapropriate clothing to do this job sometimes. Last week i was wearing flip flops and a crowd surfer was sick all over my feet.

Me:

Niiiice, never done it in high heels have you?

House photog:

Sure have. But i'll tell you the most useful bit of kit in a female music photographers arsnel. If i know the band im going to be photographing is particulaly male orientated... ill wear a low cut top and a tight push up bra.

The band spend the whole time staring straight down my top and i get some f"@!?ng awesome shots!

It made me laugh, cause i thought straight of She and the loose top incident. And i just had to share it!

Oh That?

That's just "She's Story" getting around...

It's long since become a "One Liner", used by everyone in the business...

Aha, I wonder if she's proud of herself?

I doubt these two women have ever met, this photog is the house tog at birmingham academy, and yet they both have similar stories to tell. I think perhaps this is saying something about the general etiquette of female music photographers!

Mind you, The Maccabees guitarist was giving me a good staring at down the lens this evening, and i wasn't wearing a low cut top OR push up bra at the time.

MUOAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Tipsy and evryone else. I'm glad I could give you a laugh. I still laugh about it.

Funny thing is, since then I never wore a lowcut top but I will adopt the style from now on.

Well, she'll probably start wearing fancy panties (or a thong) and micro-skirts and dropping a cord and have to bend over to get it instead of the low-cut! Then the band will keep throwing guitar picks that she'll have to pick up! After a bit she'll be lodged in a mound of picks in the pit and nobody'll know what to do with her.

How could anyone be friendly with the mods! Hey, you're the one, dude, you got your own name changed!

Dang, and *I* had never thought of it. Might have to try it at a shoot. :)

I am always having guys comment on my 100-400 lens with simple lines like "Wow, that is a really big lens" I take the camera, and hold it with the lens pointed at the ceiling, and then grab the zoom, and extend it, and then retract it a few times slowly, and ask them "I bet you have lens envy, eh? Want to play with it?" Shuts them up every time. Makes a few blush.

I've got a 50-200 pull/push zoom. When I put my hand in to the bag with a sly smile and murmur "time to bring out The Big Boy" and pull it out I get funny looks. Especially if I then play with it lovingly.
