Pollinated -the series

My mother in law has these pumpkin plants all over her farm and the bees just can't stay out of them. Unfortunately the pollen is large and sticks to their hair, so they have to stop from time to time and clean it off.

Taken with an Xti (manual mode F11, 1/200, ISO 100) + MPE-65mm macro lens. MT-24EX with home made diffusers. The first image is at life size and the rest are at 2x:

A tripod is too slow for the critters that I shoot. This is what my rig looks like -although I'm using the MPE-65 and an MT-24EX, but the support is the same...

If that doesn't pollinate the pumpkins, they're doomed.

It's a wonder those bees can still fly.

They sometimes come out of the flowers like drunken sailors from a bar!
